Dearomatisation by use of multifunctional reagents: reaction of bis-(1-chloroformyl)-diphenylamine with imidazole derivatives

Abstract

Benzimidazole is dearomatised by the diphenyl-amine derivative (1) to the novel hexacyclic system (5), the structure of which is confirmed by X-ray analysis; imidazole under similar conditions yields the bimolecular derivative (7).
