Position of bond cleavage in the acid-catalysed hydrolysis of methyl methylarylphosphinates

Abstract

The hydrolysis of methyl methylarylphosphinate esters in 1·0 M HClO4 at 67 °C is found to proceed with ca. 90% P–O and 10% C–O bond fission.
