Stable cationic monoalkylcarbonate complexes of ruthenium(II) from the reactions of CO2 with alcohol solutions of ruthenium hydrides

Abstract

The salt [Ru(O2COR)(PMe2Ph)4]PF6,(R = Me,Et), containing a bidentate monoalkylcarbonate ester, is produced from the reaction of [RuH(PMe2Ph)5]PF6 and CO2 in methanol or ethanol or by recrystallising the format complex [Ru(O2CH)(PMe2Ph)4]PF6 from acetone-ROH(R = Me, Et).
