Determination of trace amounts of chlorophenols by gas-liquid chromatography

Abstract

Solutions of trichlorophenols, tetrachlorophenols and pentachlorophenol are made to react with 2,4-dinitro-1-fluorobenzene in the presence of pyridine as a catalyst. The derivatives are suitable for determination by gas-liquid chromatography using an electron-capture detector. The method has been applied to the determination of chlorophenols in chicken flesh.
