Spectrophotometric micro-determination of silicon-bonded hydrogen with carbenium-ion reagents

Abstract

A sensitive spectrophotometric method for the micro-determination of hydrogen bound to silicon has been developed. It is based on the reaction involved in hydride transfer from silicon to a carbenium ion. The method may be useful for the determination of trace amounts of the [triple bond, length as m-dash]Si—H group in silicone oils and in the siloxane oligomers used as intermediates in the silicone industry.
