Relaxation kinetic study of rotational isomerism of 1,2-dichloroethane and (±)-2,3-dichlorobutane by the dielectric field effect

Abstract

Chemical dielectric excess losses of solutions of 1,2-dichloroethane and (±)-2,3-dichlorobutane in cyclohexane and benzene have been measured in the frequency range 0.7 to 120 MHz. The resulting relaxation spectra were analyzed in terms of equilibrium between various rotational states and rate constants of the various rotational transitions of the compounds. The implications of the resultant data are discussed.
