Interaction of lithium salts with amides. Part 2.—Carbon-13 chemical shifts

Abstract

The interactions which take place between NN-dimethylacetamide (DMA) and (a) water, (b) aqueous lithium chloride or (c) aqueous lithium perchlorate have been studied using carbon-13 n.m.r. The results have been interpreted in terms of the transient species (a)(DMA)2(H2O)n, (b) Li+(H2O)3DMA Cl or (c) Li+(H2O)5DMA.
