Electronic structure of nitric acid studied by photoelectron spectroscopy and molecular orbital calculation

Abstract

The He(I) and He(II) photoelectron (p.e.) spectra of nitric acid, HNO3, have been obtained. Assignment of the spectra is made by comparison with the results of ab initio LCAO MO SCF calculations and by comparison with the p.e. spectra of the isovalent BX3 species and NO3.
