Xenon dichloride

Abstract

The synthesis of isotopically enriched XeCl2 for i.r. studies, the resolution of the chlorine-isotope structure of XeCl2 in the Raman effect, and the photolytic synthesis of this molecule (all in a matrix host of xenon containing chlorine) have enabled the identification of ν1 and ν3 of XeCl2 together with its characterisation. Earlier work on XeCl2 and related compounds is critically discussed.
