Magnetic properties of polymeric dihalogenodi(nicotinamide)- and dihalogenodi(isonicotinamide)-copper(II) complexes

Abstract

Magnetic susceptibilities of powdered samples of complexes of the general formula [{CuL2X2}n](X = Cl or Br, L = nicotinamide or isonicotinamide) have been determined in the temperature range 4·2–286 K. The data reflect an antiferromagnetic interaction of the linear-chain type and suggest a common structural assignment for all four complexes. The structures are expected to be di-µ-halogeno-bridged chains analogous to those of [{Cu(py)2X2}n](X = Cl and Br, py = pyridine).
