Thermochemical behaviour of some tetrahedral dihaloqenodi(tertiary phosphine)cobalt(II) complexes

Abstract

The thermochemical behaviour of a series of complexes of the type [L2CoX2](L = PR3 where R = Me, Et, Pri, Prn, Bun, Ph, or C6H11; X = Cl, Br, or I) has been studied. Heats of decomposition have been measured and the variation in the values obtained is discussed in terms of the factors which influence the stability of the complexes, in particular the cobalt-phosphorus bond strength.
