Three-step synthesis of α-methylene-γ-lactones through formation and oxidation of substituted cyclobutanones

Abstract

α-Methylene-γ-lactones have been synthesized by oxidation of readily available halogenomethylcyclobutanones and treatment of the product lactones with diazabicyclonone.
