The photo-birch reduction of aromatic hydrocarbons using sodium borohydride and 1,4-dicyanobenzene

Abstract

The efficient photo-reduction of phenanthrene, anthracene, and naphthalene by sodium borohydride in the presence of 1,4-dicyanobenzene is reported.
