Characterization of the reported [Mn(CO)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2](red isomer) as the acylmanganese complex [Mn(CO)(COC6H4PhPCH2CH2PPh2)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)] by X-ray diffraction

Abstract

One of the products of the reaction between [Mn2(CO)10] and Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2, previously identified as a paramagnetic species [Mn(CO)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2], is in fact diamagnetic and contains an acyl carbonyl group linking the manganese to an ortho carbon of one phenyl ring and is correctly formulated as [Mn(CO)(COC6H4PhPCH2 CH2PPh2)(Ph2PCH2 CH2PPh2)].
