The reaction of hexaflouorobut-2-yne and tetrafluoroethylene with η-cyclopentadienyl-iron and -ruthenium complexes; crystal and molecular structures of [Fe2(CO){C4(CF3)4CO}(η5-C5H5)2] and [Fe(COCF2C5H5)(η5-C5H5)]
Abstract
Reaction of [Fe(CO)2(η5-C5H5)]2 with CF3C2CF3 affords the ferracyclohexadienone [Fe2(CO){C4(CF3)4CO}(η5C5H5)2], whereas [Ru(CO)2(η5C5H5)]2 gives sequentially the trans-insertion product [Ru{C(CF3):C(CF3):C(CF3)H}(CO)2(η5-C5H5)] and [R[graphic omitted]C(CF3)H(CO)(ηC5H5)]; in contrast [Fe(CO)2(η1-C5H5)(η5-C5H5)] affords [FeCO{COC7H5(CF3)2}(η5-C5H5)] with CF3C2CF3 and [Fe(COCF2C5H5)(η5-C5H5)] with C2F4, the latter reaction involving cleavage of a C–C bond.
