Isotope effects as a transition state probe in concerted unimolecular reactions of ions
Abstract
Deuterium isotope effects, operating in competitive losses of H2, HD, and D2 from some carbocations, are used to indicate that these reactions proceed through transition states in which two C–H bonds are synchronously stretched.
