Polarographic determination of pyrithioxine in pharmaceutical preparations

Abstract

A polarographic method for the determination of pyrithioxine in pharmaceutical preparations is described. The method is based on the first cobalt(II) catalytic pre-wave given by the pyrithioxine in a solution that is 1 × 10–3M in cobalt(II), 0·05 M in ammonia, 0·1 M in ammonium chloride and 2 × 10–5M in tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. It is rapid and sensitive, and its precision and accuracy are satisfactory.
