The determination of 2-(1-cyano-1-methylethylamino)-4-ethylamino-6-methylthio-1,3,5-triazine (cyanatryn) residues in water by using high-pressure liquid chromatography

Abstract

A high-pressure liquid chromatographic method has been developed in order to determine low levels of a new triazine herbicide, 2-(1-cyano-1-methylethyl-amino)-4-ethylamino-6-methylthio-1, 3, 5-triazine (cyanatryn), in water. The herbicide was extracted from water with dichloromethane. The recoveries were between 88 and 101 per cent. for concentrations of herbicide ranging from 0·005 to 0·1 p.p.m. in three sources of water.
