Stereospecific electronegative effects. Part II. Effects of vicinal substituents upon geminal 1H–19F spin–spin coupling constants (2JHF) in fluorocarbohydrates, polyfluoro-1,4-dioxans, and polyfluoro-1,4-oxathians

Abstract

A detailed study has been made of 2JHF values in the title compounds, and a simple additive method of calculating such coupling constants is reported. It seems probable that the approach could be of use in stereochemical and conformational studies of related molecules.
