Pentaketide metabolites of the fungus Phialophora lagerbergii

Abstract

Phialophora lagerbergii produces scytalone [3,4-dihydro-3,6,8-trihydroxynaphthalen-2(1H)-one](1) and flaviolin (2,5,7-trihydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone)(6). The incorporation of [1-13C]acetate into scytalone confirms its pentaketide origin.
