Electronic structure of some oxyanions studied by X-ray emission and photoelectron spectroscopy

Abstract

The intensities of the X-ray emission spectra of a series of oxyanions are calculated using ab initio SCF MO wavefunctions, yielding good agreement with the experimental values. When combined with photoelectron spectra, these measurements may allow a definite assignment of the valence ionic states, as in the case of SO2–4, studied here in detail.
