Generalized treatment of alkanes. Part 3.—Triatomic additivity

Abstract

A new concept of triatomic energies is proposed for estimating thermochemical and thermodynamic properties of polyatomic substances. The generalized treatment of alkanes previously developed (Parts 1 and 2) has been transformed into a method of triatomic additivity which is more comprehensive and has a greater scope of application than any current literature procedure. The treatment of the vicinal and steric interactions has been refined.
