Extraction of uranyl nitrate and thorium nitrate by methyl diphenyl phosphate

Abstract

Partition studies have been carried out for the uranyl nitrate/water/methyl diphenyl phosphate and thorium nitrate/water/methyl diphenyl phosphate systems. The activities of methyl diphenyl phosphate were calculated for the uranyl nitrate ternary system. Uranyl nitrate is better extracted by methyl diphenyl phosphate than is thorium nitrate. The same picture is observed in relation to water for both systems.
