Dinitrogen trioxide. Part XII. The liquid dinitrogen trioxide solvent system

Abstract

The relative permittivity and electrolytic conductivity of N2O3, N2O4, and their mixtures have been measured. Values for the refractive index and dipole moment of N2O3 have been obtained. The extent of the self-ionization N2O3 NO++ NO2 has been estimated and its influence on chemical reactions in this solvent is discussed. The influence of N2O4 and organic solvents on the reactions of N2O3 are considered.
