Solvolysis of methyltin chlorides by strong-acid solvents

Abstract

The solvolysis of methyltin chlorides Me4–xSnClx in highly acidic media has been followed by means of n.m.r. and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Spectral data for the solvated [Me3Sn]+, [Me2Sn]2+, [MeSnCl2]+, and [MeSnCl]2+ cations in solution are reported and discussed.
