Extraction of zinc and copper nitrates by methyl diphenyl phosphate

Abstract

Extraction equilibria in the zinc nitrate–water–methyl diphenyl phosphate (MePh2PO4) and copper nitrate–water–MePh2PO4 systems have been investigated. The data found are consistent with formation of partially dissociated [Zn(NO3)2(H2O)2(MePh2PO4)3] and [Cu(NO3)2(H2O)3(MePh2PO4)3] complexes. In the case of zinc, the equilibrium constant for complex formation K=(3·6 ± 0·7)× 10–6(mol kg–1 MePh2PO4)–1
