The reaction of trans-bis(dinitrogen)bis(bisdiphenylphosphinoethane)molybdenum with tetrakis(ethylthio-µ3-sulphido-ferrate)(2-)

Abstract

We find that no ammonia is formed in the reaction between trans-[Mo(N2)2(dpe)2](dpe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2), [Fe4S4(SEt)4]2– and hydrogen chloride, the main products being [MoCl2(dpe)2]+, H2S, EtSH, H2, iron chlorides and, quantitatively, N2.
