Directed metallation of model adrenaline compounds

Abstract

Metallation of three α-hydroxy-β-phenethylamines gave a series of 1,2-disubstituted benzenes upon condensation with a variety of electrophiles; these hydroxyethylamine substituents are among the most complex substituents to provide directed metallation.
