Stable platinum(II) dihydrides trans-[PtH2L12] and monohydrides [PtH(P–C)L](L = a bulky tertiary phosphine, P–C = a metallated tertiary phosphine) are described; a previous claim to have made such dihydrides is shown to be wrong.
