Molybdenum nitrosyl complexes containing bridging hydrazido-groups: X-ray analysis of the structure of {(π-C5H5)Mo(NO)I}2(µ-NNMe2)

Abstract

[(πC5H5)Mo(NO)X2]2 reacted with R1R2NNH2(R1= R2= Me; X = Cl, Br, or I; R1= H, R2= Ph, X = Cl or Br; R1= Me, R2= Ph, X = Cl or Br) giving [{(π-C5H5)Mo(NO)X}2NNR1R2](A) and an X-ray cystallographic analysis showed that when, for (A), X = I, R1= R2= Me, the molecule contained an asymmetric hydrazide group bridging two {(π-C5H5)Mo(NO)I} units; Mo(1) is bound to the terminal N atom and Mo(2) to both N atoms of the hydrazido ligand; the symmetrically bridged hydrazide [(π-C5H5)Mo(NO)I(NNHPh)]2(B) was also prepared.
