Unusual base-induced transformations of 2′,6′-dihydroxyacetophenone oxime

Abstract

The formation of 4-hydroxy-3-methylbenzisoxazole and/or 4-hydroxy-2-methylbenzoxazole from 2′,6′-dihydroxyacetophenone oxime in aqueous methanol containing potassium hydroxide is described.
