Poly-(4-and 5-acrylamidosalicylic acids). Part I. Preparation and properties

Abstract

Salicylic acid type polymers have been prepared by polymerisation of 4-and 5-acrylamidosalicyiic acids. Difficulties in achieving the polymerisation were overcome by prior formation of the salts or borate complexes of the monomers. The characteristics of the polymers and their solubilities in a number of solvent systems have been examined.
