Cyclic amidines. Part XXIV. Cyclisation of N-allyl-N′-arylacetamidines to imidazolines, dihydroquinazolines, and dihydrobenzodiazepines

Abstract

N-Allyl-N′-arylacetamidines have been cyclised, as their hydrochlorides, to 1-aryl-2,5-dimethyl-Δ2-imidazolines and, in polyphosphoric acid, to 3,4-dihydro-4-ethyl-2-methylquinazolines together with, in certain cases, 4,5-dihydro-2,5-dimethyl-3H-1,3-benzodiazepines.
