Reaction of tetrafluoroethylene with Se8(AsF6)2 and Se8(Sb2F11)2. Preparation of bis(pentafluoroethyl) triselenide and perfluoroethyldiselenylperfluoroacetyl fluoride

Abstract

Solid Se8(AsF6)2 reacts with C2F4 at room temperature to form (C2F5)2Sex(x= 2 or 3). Se8(Sb2F11)2 gives similar products on reaction with C2F4 at 100 °C. In SO2 solution Se8(AsF6)2 and C2F4 give mainly (C2F5)2Se2 and C2F5Se2CF2C[O]F; the latter was characterised by its 19F n.m.r. and mass spectrum.
