Chemistry of the metal carbonyls. Part LXVII. Hydroxycarbene complexes of manganese(I)

Abstract

Protonation of solutions containing the anions [MnX(COMe)(CO)4](X = Br or I) affords the stable crystalline hydroxycarbene complexes cis-[MnX{C(OH)Me}(CO)4], characterised by i.r., n.m.r., and mass spectroscopy. Reaction with water yields methyl(pentacarbonyl)manganese, whereas, cyclohexylamine gives acetyl(cyclo-hexylamine) tetracarbonylmanganese.
