Preparation, properties, and crystal structure of bis(ethyl carbamate)dinitratodioxouranium(VI)

Abstract

A monomeric complex of formula [UO2(NO3)2L2](L = ethyl carbamate) has been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure has been determined by X-ray analysis from three-dimensional counter data, and refined by least-squares to R 0·076 for 1369 reflections. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/a, with a= 12·176(3), b= 8·364(3), c= 7·847(3)Å, β= 90·42°(5), and Z= 2. The linear uranyl groups perpendicular to the equatorial plane in which four oxygen atoms of two nitrate groups and two amidic oxygen atoms of the organic ligands occupy the corners of an irregular hexagon. The crystallographic results are related to i.r. and n.m.r. measurements.
