Tris(quinolin-8-olato)titanium(III). A distorted octahedral monomer with an orbitally non-degenerate ground state

Abstract

Tris(quinolin-8-olato)titanium(III) has been prepared by reaction of α-titanium trichloride and quinolin-8-ol in acetonitrile. Magnetic-susceptibility measurements, e.s.r. and electronic absorption spectra, and X-ray powder diffraction studies indicate that the complex is a distorted octahedral monomer with an orbitally non-degenerate ground state.
