Nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of symmetrical phosphorus compounds. Part V. 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of P,P′-dimethyl-P,P′-di-t-butyldiphosphine P,P′-disulphide, an [ARtXn]2 spin system

Abstract

General expressions are given for the X transition frequencies and intensities of the [ARtXn]2 spin system with JRR=JXX=JRX=JRX= 0. The information is used for the analysis of the 1H n.m.r. spectrum of [Me(But)P-(S)]2. The value of 1JPP(118 ± 5 Hz) for this molecule is found to be unusually high for a tetra-alkyldiphosphine disulphide.
