One-electron reduction synthesis of uranium pentafluoride

Abstract

The reactions of uranium hexafluoride with hydrogen gas in the presence of u.v. radiation or with silicon powder in an anhydrous HF slurry provide useful, high yield syntheses of pure uranium pentafluoride.
