Isomerisation of 4-hydroxy-2-(prop-2-enyl)cyclopent-2-enones to 2-n-propylcyclopent-2-ene-1,4-diones

Abstract

Treatment of 4-hydroxy-2-(prop-2-enyl)cyclopent-2-enones (1) with pyridine hydrochloride produces 2-n-propylcyclopent-2-ene-1,4-diones (2); the isomerisations probably proceed via intermediate 2-(prop-2-enyl)-cycloptane-1,4-diones (5).
