New information on the aqueous hydrolysis of tertiary butyl chloride

Abstract

Aqueous hydrolysis of t-butyl chloride at concentrations in the range 10–5 to 10–3 mol dm–3 does not conform to simple first order kinetics with respect to the rate of production of hydrogen ions and is pH dependent.
