Nephelauxetic effect and Pauling electronegativity

Abstract

Polarizing cations, e.g. S6+, H+, P5+, reduce the nephelauxetic properties of the oxide ligand, its Jorgensen h-function depending quantitatively upon the oxidation number of these cations, their stoicheiometric proportion and their Pauling electronegativity.
