Fluorimetric complexing constants and circular dichroism measurements for antibiotic X-537A with univalent and bivalent cations

Abstract

Complexing constants for Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, and Ba2+ with antibiotic X-537A in methanol have been determined fluorimetrically; fluorescence enhancements and most of the large augmentations of circular dichroic absorption due to the cations are correlated with the complexing constants.
