Novel epimerizations of ring-fused cyclopropanecarbaldehydes catalysed by iodide salts

Abstract

Ring-fused cyclopropanecarbaldehydes can be epimerized under mild conditions by use of specific iodide salts as catalysts; these reactions can occur through the intermediate cleavage of the cyclopropane ring.
