A method for the detection of microgram amounts of hydroxamic acids

Abstract

A rapid and simple method for the detection of small amounts of hydroxamic acids is described. The chloroform-soluble, violet-coloured vanadium complex formed between vanadium and the hydroxamic acids allows the detection of as little as 10 to 20 µg of hydroxamic acid in one drop of sample solution.
