Crystal structure of 6,6,12,12-tetrachloro-3,3,9,9-tetramethoxytricyclo-[9,1,0,0]dodecane: C16H24Cl4O4

Abstract

The structure of the title compound has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystals are triclinic with Z= 1 in a unit cell of dimensions: a= 998·8(3), b= 819·5(3), c= 637·7(2) pm, α= 93·07(1), β= 91·40(1), γ= 110·70(1)°, space group P[1 with combining macron]. The structure was solved by Patterson and Fourier methods and refined by least-squares using 1504 observed three-dimensional diffractometer to R 0·043. The molecule has a centre of symmetry coincident with a crystallographic centre of symmetry. It possesses approximate 2/m symmetry and its conformation is in agreement with that predicted by Dunitz.
