Substituted naphthoquinones. Part 2.—E.S.R. spectra of some hydroxy- and alkoxy-1,4-naphthosemiquinones

Abstract

The electron spin resonance spectra of eight mono- and di-substituted 1,4-naphthosemiquinones reflect steric properties of the substituents which were alkoxy, hydroxy and phenoxy groups. The radical anions were produced by electrolytic reduction at a mercury pool cathode in acetonitrile.
