A sapphire cell for high-temperature Raman studies of reactive gases. The vibrational spectra of Sef4, SeOF2, TiF4, and SbF3

Abstract

The vibrational spectra of TiF₄(Raman: solid, gas), SbF₃(Raman : solid, gas, solution in methanol; infrared : solid), SeOF₂(Raman : solid, liquid, gas), SeF₄(Raman : solid (two forms), liquid, gas; i.r. : gas) are reported. The use of vibrational spectroscopy to study polymerisation in condensed phases is discussed with particular reference to ClF₃ and the title compounds.
