The formation of some transition metal trifluoromethylthio-derivatives

Abstract

Bis(trifluoromethyl) disulphide under photolysis with some organometallic compounds in low oxidation states gives trifluoromethylthio-derivatives. On reaction with further ligands the trifluoromethylthio-group remains co-ordinated. The new compounds (cp)Mo(CO)3SCF3, (cp)W(CO)3SCF3, [Fe(CO)3SCF3]2, [Fe2(CO)6SCF3]2S, [(cp)NiSCF3]2, [(cp)Mo(CO)2SCF3]2, [Fe(CO)2PPh3SCF3]2, and (cp)NiPPh3SCF3 are reported.
