Dimerization of α-fluorobenzyl radicals: mechanistic evidence from chemically induced dynamic polarization of 19F nuclei

Abstract

Differences between the polarized and depolarized 19F n.m.r. spectra of solutions in which 1,2-difluorobibenzyl is formed by dimerization of α-fluorobenzyl radicals are interpreted as evidence for the intermediate formation of a pair of diastereoisomeric methylenecyclohexa-2,4-dienes.
